We are proud to be members of the ANUK/Unipol National Code of Standards for Student Accommodation. We are committed to raising the standards of student housing by making sure tenants receive the best possible service from our staff and feel safe and secure in our buildings.

The Student Housing Company is actively involved in developing the Code by sitting on the Committee of Management which oversees the running of the Code with partners such as the National Union of Students.

Living in accommodation managed by members of the National Code gives you the comfort of knowing that you will receive a certain standard of housing management and, if there are problems, there is a procedure that you can follow. The following are key points of the Code:

• Your contract is clearly written, stating what you are paying for and how much your rent is, with reasonable terms and no hidden costs
• Your accommodation should be ready for you when you arrive
• Your accommodation meets a set of nationally recognised standards of services, furniture and fittings
• Repairs and maintenance are carried out within agreed timescales
• Your building will meet with robust health and safety standards
• If a deposit is charged, you will know what it is for and it will be returned to you promptly at the end of the year with a clear explanation of why any deductions have been made
• You will be given information to explain what management routines are followed in the buildings
• There is a set procedure for dealing with disputes and complaints

Naturally we aim to exceed these standards and ensure there are very few problems experienced by our tenants. We make 5 promises to everyone who lives in our accommodation.
