The Penworks is just next door to our Studios 51 residence and was brand new in September 2013. Like Studios 51, The Penworks includes 24-hour secure access to the building and an on-site maintenance and management team, as well as a private launderette and bike storage facilities. There is also a shared common room for all tenants to use complete with comfy seating and pool table.
The Penworks is close to the city centre and its many vibrant shops, galleries, restaurants and night-life, with most places within walking distance. The Bullring Shopping Centre is only a 15 minute walk away, and local buses stop near the residence, too. New Street Train Station is a major station connection and easily walkable. Aston University and Birmingham City University are also reachable by foot, with Aston campus less than five minutes away, We’re also suitable for other colleges in the area, such as University College Birmingham, The College of Law, School of Jewellery, School of Acting, Abbey College, BPP Birmingham, Birmingham Metropolitan and many more.
All rooms at The Penworks have en-suite bathrooms, and are available as individual studios or in clusters of 4 to 6-bedrooms. All rooms include a study desk, small double bed, wardrobe and shelf storage. Each room is thoughtfully furnished, including those little touches that make all the difference: our plug sockets are within straightener-cord length of the mirror, and our showers have a full door and a tray to catch the water! All cluster flats come with a shared kitchen area that really does make you feel at home. Large fridge-freezers, an oven, hob, lots of cupboard space, a combi-microwave, breakfast bar, a comfy seating area and 32-inch TVs all add to the value you get for your money. All bills will of course be included in the price – that’s electricity, gas and water, with 20Mb wired or wireless (Free upgrade to 30MB internet with WI-FI from September 2014) internet as standard.
The safety and security of our guests is one of our priorities. All residents must use an electronic key to get into the building and we have 24-hour CCTV in operation throughout the year. Our friendly team are also on-hand at any time to help you with any problems or questions you might have – whether it’s 3 in the afternoon or 3 in the morning, we’ll be there.
