If you’re at uni in Edinburgh, you’re bound to have visited the beach at Portobello. But if you’re looking for something a little off the beaten track, the stunning coastline of East Lothian is just a short drive or train journey from Edinburgh.

Here, you can enjoy beautiful views, quirky little villages and a local nature reserve. The sandy beaches and secluded bays attract a huge range of visitors each year and even if the weather lets you down, you can always visit Tantallon Castle and the fantastic restaurants close by. This area will show you a more relaxed, picturesque side to Scotland that you’ll love.

Saber Power Sports have some great powerboat experiences too – from thrilling taster sessions to full days on the water, they’ve got something that everyone can enjoy.

If you’re feeling daring, Ocean Sports Tuition also give you the chance to drive amazing powerboats. With some great courses and lessons on offer, why not try your hand at being James Bond this summer?

Cycle in Cardiff

man cycling

Cardiff has more miles of green space than any other area in Europe for its population, so it’s definitely a place for outdoor adventures. Try getting some fresh air and cycle some of the amazing routes in the city.

The Taff Trail follows historic tramways, train routes and towpaths and takes you through miles of beautiful parkland. Starting at Cardiff Bay and finishing at the beautiful Brecon Beacons, this trail is a challenging and fun trip to take with your friends.

Discover The Beatles in Liverpool

Previously voted the European Capital of Culture, Liverpool is home to some amazing history and heritage, including the most dominant pop group in the world: the Beatles.

The childhood homes of ‘the fab four’ have been transformed into fascinating museums, the Beatles Story brings the 60s back to life, and the famous Casbah venue still stands.

Visit London's famous gin distillery

If you’re studying in London or you’re looking for a fun trip from away from Plymouth, London’s Gin Distillery in Blackfriars is a great place to spend an afternoon.

Celebrating London’s famous “gin craze” of the 18th century (which seems to have come back around in recent years!), this bar is steeped in history and produces some of the best gin in the world.

The distillery also offers plenty of tours where you can design, distil and sample your very own gin! But if you’d prefer to dive straight in, the bar serves up a huge range of great food, spirits, cocktails, wines and beers too.

Take a trip to Brighton
